Make every TMS session count.
B1Neuro provides fMRI-based neurotargeting that integrates with your existing TMS hardware. Improve response rates without changing your clinical workflow.
What we offer
The technology
What is fMRI-guided neurotargeting?
Standard TMS uses a generalized scalp landmarks to estimate the target location for stimulation. However, the optimal targets for brain stimulation treatments lie in individualized locations.
fMRI-guided neurotargeting uses a patient’s own resting-state fMRI scan to identify their individualized stimulation target, based on the functional connectivity of brain networks. The result is a treatment coordinate tailored to the patient, rather than a population average.

How it works
- Imaging acquisition. The clinic acquires a structural MRI (T1) and a resting-state fMRI scan from the patient. We provide imaging parameters compatible with standard clinical scanners (Siemens, GE, Philips).
- Data transfer. Imaging data is analysed by B1Neuro’s software. We can adapt the mode of data transfer to something that suits your institution.
- Brain network estimation. Our algorithms process the fMRI data to identify individual-specific functional networks, and computes an appropriate TMS target.
- Report delivery. A targeting report is delivered , ready for input into your clinic’s preferred neuronavigation system.
What we deliver
Each personalized targeting report includes:
- Patient-specific stimulation target coordinates and neuronavigation-compatible files
- Visual report showing the target within the patient’s brain anatomy
- Quality assurance documentation

Backed by evidence
The clinical evidence behind personalized TMS continues to grow. Peer-reviewed studies have shown that fMRI-based targeting — using a patient’s own brain anatomy and functional connectivity — leads to higher response rates than standard scalp-based protocols. Beyond efficacy, fMRI targeting expands what’s possible: tailored protocols, network-level interventions, and treatment approaches for conditions.
